The buoys are only reading in at 1.2 ft. with a S swell and the marine forecast is calling for variable winds in 10 knot or less range so I don't expect the surf to build much at all. April 13, 2008 North winds have knocked the surf down to nothing and it looks like the surf is going to be flat through Wed. of next week. The air is cool and sun is out so it is a nice day to hang out at the beach or go skate outside. The Downhill skate event was a huge success yesterday and today would be a great day to bomb a hill.
April 12, 2008 Surf is still looking good in the waist to rib high range, and that cold front still hasn't made it through yet. The buoys are still reading in the 3.6 ft. range with a SSW swell direction and a S wind in the 10 knot range. The marine forecast is calling for NW winds all day in the 15 knot range and it looks like that front is just coming over Mobile at 6:30 this morning so I guess it is going to hit us sooner or later. I think the surf is going to last most of the day though. The Downhill skate event is on at UWF, registration starts at 9:30.
April 11, 2008 Well I have to tell you, the surf is good right now at 6am this morning, chest to head high ground swell at a SSE direction. The wind is on it a little bit out of the SE in the 10 to 12 knot range. The marine forecast is calling for S winds all day and then switching strong out of the W after midnight. The winds should be off shore by tomorrow morning, so it could be epic with the seas building in to the 4 to 6 ft. range today & tonight.Don't forget about the Downhill Skate Contest at UWF this coming Sat.
April 10, 2008 Surf looks like it is going to run the same course as yesterday, a little smaller in the am thigh to waist and then building throughout the day. The buoys are 3 ft. with SE swell direction and a ESE wind at 11knots. The marine forecast is calling for SE winds in the 20 knot range all day and into tomorrow. We have a high tide at 1:18 pm and a low after midnight. Yesterday in the late afternoon the wind died down and the surf cleaned up some, so hopefully it will do that again today. Don't forget about the Downhill Skate Contest at UWF this coming Sat.
April 9, 2008 The surf is looking kind of weird this morning, there is swell out there the buoys are reading in the 3.9 ft. range with a ESE swell direction and a E wind at 15 knots. The marine forecast is calling for E winds today in the 15 to 20 knot range with the winds becoming more SE tonight. We have a high tide at noon and a low tide at midnigt. Looks like the surf should build and hopefully get fun by this afternoon. We will see. Don't forget about the Downhill Skate Contest at UWF this coming Sat.
April 8, 2008 Surf is only in the shin to knee high range this morning, but will be building all day. The buoys are on their way back up and reading in the 3.9 ft. range this morning with an E swell direction and a E wind at 20 knots. The marine forecast is calling for E & SE winds all day in the 15 to 20 knot range, so the seas will be building along with the surf. We have a high tide at 11:22 am and then a low at 11:30 pm. Don't forget about the Downhill Skate Contest at UWF this coming Sat.
April 7, 2008 The surf is still fun this morning. The buoys are still in the 3 ft. range with a S swell direction and a light ENE wind. The surf is in the waist high range with bigger sets and it looks like the marine forecast is calling for the winds to switch back to SE today and continue out of the E & SE all week, so it looks like we will have plenty of surf on tap for the rest of the week. Go surf. Don't forget about the Downhill Skate Contest at UWF this coming Sat.
April 6, 2008 It looks real good this morning, still holding in the waist to rib high range with some bigger sets. The buoys are still reading in the 4.6 ft. range with a S swell direction and a SSE wind at 7 knots. We have a high tide at 9:50 am and then the tide will be going out the rest of the day to a low at 9 pm tonight. Go surf.
April 5, 2008 Pretty consistent rain all day, but there is surf in the waist high range and it should last all day. The marine forecast is calling for SW winds and becoming NW by this afternoon. The buoys are reading in the 3.6 ft. range with a S swell and a SSE wind. This rain is helping to keep the surf fairly glassy and with the wind switch to the N, the rain should be done and the skies clearing. Hope it gets cleared up and good before dark.
April 3, 2008 Now the surf has gotten even smaller. So just go skateboarding and get practiced up for the Downhill skate contest next Sat. at UWF. We have information on it at the shop. It is going to be awesome.
April 2, 2008 The surf has gotten a little smaller again, now holding in the knee to thigh high range, with the buoys still reading in the 2.3 ft. range with a S swell and almost no wind. The winds were light out of the NE last night which didn't help the surf much. The marine forecast is calling for real light E & SE winds today. The surf could build but probably only slightly. We had a low tide at 6:16 am and will have a high at 8:08 pm. It should be another beautiful day out at the beach, perfect day for stand up paddle boarding.
April 1, 2008 The surf has gotten a little smaller since yesterday, the buoys are only reading in the 2.3 ft. range with a SSE swell direction and a E wind blowing in the 10 to 15 knot range. The marine forecast is calling for E & SE winds all day in the 10 to 15 knot range but the seas are not expected to pick up much. So it looks like the surf will stay in the thigh to waist high range for most of the day. We had a low tide at 5:44 am so the tide will be coming back in to a high at 6:50 pm tonight. So will be up all day just not real big, but it should be fun, so go surf.
