Aug 31, 2008 - 6:28am The swell is just starting to show and we have waves in the thigh to waist high range and will be building all day as Gustav makes its way up into the Gulf. The farthest S buoy is reading 13 ft. with an ENE swell direction, so as Gustav get farther up into the Gulf the swell will start directing more ESE. Look for big surf on the way. This weekend Waterboyz is having a huge Labor Day Weekend Sale, almost everything in the shop is marked down, so come score some deals.
Aug 30, 2008 - 7:47am Nothing yet but the buoy farthest S in the Gulf is just starting to read in the 2.9 ft. range with an ESE swell. So the swell is on the way. Get ready to surf. This weekend Waterboyz is having a huge Labor Day Weekend Sale, almost everything in the shop is marked down, so come score some deals.
Aug 29, 2008 - 6:14am Nothing yet and it looks like Gustav is not moving forward as fast as earlier predictions had it forecast. So we probably are not going to see any surf till late Sun or Mon, but it is coming so get ready. This weekend Waterboyz is having a huge Labor Day Weekend Sale, starting on Fri.
Aug 28, 2008 - 6:07am No surf, but it looks like Gustav is heading into the Gulf for sure and most likely heading to the W of us. Look for surf to start showing by Sun. This weekend Waterboyz is having a huge Labor Day Weekend Sale, starting on Fri.
Aug 27, 2008 - 6:10am The surf we had has pretty much gone, there is some tiny little shin high waves coming in that would be fun on a real long board or a paddleboard. Looks like the next waves will be coming from Gustav, which we should start to see some action from by Sun. This weekend Waterboyz is having a huge Labor Day Weekend Sale, starting on Fri.
Aug 26, 2008 - 6:41am We still have some fun surf in the waist to rib high range, and it looks like it should hold in that size range all day. The buoy SW of us is still reading in the 4 ft. range with a SW swell direction and the marine forecast is calling for SW winds in the 15 to 20 knot range all day. Go surf. It looks like Gustav is going to make a run for the Gulf, so we will keep an eye on that one.
Aug 25, 2008 - 6:12am The surf has gotten bigger since yesterday with waves hitting the beach in the chest to shoulder high range with bigger sets in the head high range. The surf will be big all day maybe even bigger, as the buoy S of Dauphine Island is reading in the 8 ft. range with a SW swell direction. We had a high tide at 5 am and we have a low at 5:24pm. Conditions are very windy this morning and the winds are forecast to stay out of the SSW in the 20 to 25 knot range for the next couple of days. Go surf.
Aug 24, 2008 - 7:28am Finally we have some surf from Fay, she scooted N of us but now we are seeing the swell coming in out of the SW and it looks to be in the waist high range with some bigger sets and it should get bigger throughout the day. Go surf, we had a high tide at 3:45 am and the tide will be going out to a low at 4:20 today.
Aug 23, 2008 - 6:34am It is looking like Fay is going to take a path right along the beach straight over us, so we are most likely only going to be getting N winds sending the surf away from us, that is until she passes by and gets further to the W of us. Once Fay is into Alabama we should start to see some S winds that should give us some waves, by then she will be downgraded to a Tropical depression so hopefully we won't see much damage just a little surf, maybe by Sun afternoon.
Aug 22, 2008 - 6:09am No surf yet and if Fay goes N of us we may see no surf at all, but there are several computer models that are forecasting Fay to reenter into the Gulf and cruise by just S of Pensacola, which should give us some waves. Either way it looks like it is going to be a very rainy weekend. Hopefully she will go S of us with just enough strength to give us some waves and no damage.
Aug 21, 2008 - 6:13am The little swell we had yesterday is gone, and it isn't looking like we are going to see any surf for a couple of days, that is unless Fay decides to dip alittle to the S and get back into the Gulf. But the forecast has it going N of us which will be giving us N winds and sending the waves away from us. Hope you caught some of the surf yesterday.
Aug 20, 2008 - 6:28am There is a small little ground swell starting to show in the knee high range, there may be some thigh high sets coming in and you may see some waist high creeper sets every once in a while, but I don't expect it to get much bigger as the buoys are already starting to receed down into the 2 ft. range. They peaked around 3.9 ft. last night. Marine forecast is calling for E & NE winds for the next couple of days as Fay moves over land to the N of us. Get out and catch some waves if you can, looks fun on a longboard or paddleboard, you may find some fun shortboard sandbars out there also. Go surf.
Aug 19, 2008 - 7:07am Well it looks like Fay isn't going to give us any waves after all. She is going too far E & N. We will have to hope that another swell will come our way soon, because it looks like alot of flatness on the horizen for the next couple of days. Maybe by this weekend we will see some surf. Great weather for skating, also we are extending our Back to School sale through the end of this week.
Aug 17, 2008 - 6:32am We are back to flatness again and it doesn't look good for surf today or tomorrow, but hopefully we will still get a swell from Fay by Tue or Wed. Pray for surf. In the meantime go skate or come by the shop and get all your back to school gear, school starts tomorrow.
Aug 16, 2008 - 6:17am There is still a small little swell coming in out of the SW in the knee high range. The buoys S of Mobile is still reading in the 2 ft. range, but those seas are not really translating into any bigger surf for us. We have a high tide at 10 am and low at 9:32 pm. The marine forecast is calling for more W winds for the next couple of days, so don't expect too much on the surf side until Wed. when Tropical storm Fay should start producing a SE swell for us. Yea.
Aug 15, 2008 - 6:53am We still have a fun little thigh to waist high wave hitting the beaches out of the SW, nice and glassy this morning. The buoys S of Mobile is still reading in the 2 ft. range so this surf should last all day. The marine forecast is calling for W & SW winds all day in the 10 knot range. Go surf.
Aug 14, 2008 - 6:37am The NW winds have kicked in and calmed the surf down, it looks fun in the waist high range, nice and glassy. Get out a catch some surf before it goes flat, hopefully it will last all day. There is a high tide at 8:40 am and a low at 8:40pm. The marine forecast is calling for the winds to be NW all day and then back to SW tomorrow. The buoy SW of Pensacola is still reading in the 3 ft. range so go surf.
Aug 13, 2008 - 7:52am Strong SW winds in the 20 knot range, with chest high with bigger sets, lots of wind and it looks like the jellies are mostly gone. Marine forecast is calling for more strong SW winds all day and then going NW tomorrow so hopefully that NW will clean it up and make for some pretty surf. For today look for alot of paddleing and choppy conditions. Go surf.
Aug 12, 2008 - 7:22am Now the surf is showing, in the waist high range and will be building all day as the winds and seas build from this strong SW wind. Be ready to endure the rath of the jellyfish, or head further E to hopefully out run them. The surf will be even bigger tomorrow as the marine forecast is calling for seas to build into the 9ft. range out of the SW. Right now they are only reading 2.6 ft. out of the SE. Go surf.
Aug 11, 2008 - 7:32am No surf yet, but the marine forecast is predicting waves by Tue or Wed. to have some good size waves coming in out of the SW. Look out for the jellies, you might want to plan on heading to the E to out run the stings.
Aug 9, 2008 - 7:32am Another totally flat day on hand, find something else fun to do, like go skateboarding. Also come by the shop and score some deals on our Back to School Sale. Have a great day.
Aug 8, 2008 - 6:41am Looks like we have total flatness today. The winds are out of the NW and have sent the little bit of swell heading away from us. The marine forecast is calling for NW winds today then back into the same W & SW pattern we have been experiencing for the last month or two. Looks like we are going to be experiencing the jellies for at least another week. Pray for some E or SE winds. It is a great day to go skateboarding. There is a skateboard relay race event at Waterboyz tomorrow. It is a 4 man team relay race through downtown Pensacola and it is limited to the first 20 teams so get your team together and get sign up at Waterboyz.
Aug 7, 2008 - 6:36am The surf has gotten to the almost flat point, but there is still a tiny, tiny wave rolling in, maybe only fun on a paddleboard. The marine forecast is calling for NW winds all day and the buoys have dropped down into the 1.6 ft. range with a W wind, so the jellies are back again. I might just be a good day to skateboard. There is a skateboard relay race event at Waterboyz tomorrow. It is a 4 man team relay race through downtown Pensacola and it is limited to the first 20 teams so get your team together and get sign up at Waterboyz.
Aug 6, 2008 - 7:11am There is still a tiny little bit of surf left, with waves rolling in along the beachs in the shin to knee high range. The buoys SW of us is still reading in the 2 ft. range but the winds are starting to read WNW and the marine forecast is calling for NW winds all day, then going back to the SW tomorrow. Go catch the last of the swell on your longboard or paddleboard before it is all gone.
Aug 5, 2008 - 6:36am We still have some waves hitting the beaches in the waist to rib high range, with the buoys still reading in the 3 ft. range. The swell will be getting smaller by tomorrow with the winds going to the N, so get out and catch the last of the swell today. Looks like the jellies are moving out, go surf.
Aug 4, 2008 - 6:43am Just as promised we have a sweet little SE swell rolling in along the beaches of the Gulf Coast and it is looking fun in the waist to rib high range. The surf will be up all day an most likely building into the chest to head high range by this afternoon. We have a high tide at 12:45 pm and then a low at 11 pm tonight, with a neap tide tomorrow. The jellies should be getting pushed out with this SE swell so go surf.
Aug 3, 2008 - 7:14am We still have some wave action out in the Gulf, the buoys are still in the 3 ft. range but the winds are just unorganized. One of the buoys is reading NW winds and the other SW, and the marine forecast is calling for E winds all day in the 15 to 20 knot range. Looks like we should have some sort of unorganized waves all day until the E wind kicks in good and straighteneds the swell out. Look for some good SE waves in the waist to rib high range through Tue.
Aug 2, 2008 - 6:37am Our little SW swell is starting to die out, and it looks like we are going to get some SE action by tomorrow, which should push all the jellies out of here. There are some small waves left over in the knee high range with the buoys still reading 2 ft. I may last all day, but no promises. Look for a small SE swell by tomorrow afternoon and lasting through Tue. Go away jellies.
Aug 1, 2008 - 7:12am Yes, we still have a good little SW swell hitting the beaches with waist to rib high waves. The buoy SW of Pensacola is reading 3.9 ft. and it looks good for surf all day. We have a high tide at 10:12am and a low 10:12pm. The surf is good, but stop by the shop an score some Stingmate, to sooth those jellyfish stings. Go surf.
